Jennifer (Jay) James, Advanced practioner of EEM
I started my journey towards discovering alternative ways to heal disease and discomfort for myself over 29 years ago. I took Reiki an energy-healing course in 1991 while attending massage school, and that started my official journey into the energy healing arts. My path has been meandering, challenging, insightful and full of exploration.
I graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1992 and worked in one of my instructor’s clinics in Kitsilano. In 1993 I decided to open my own clinic in historic Steveston Village which I called Turning Point Wellness Centre. A centre where patients would be supported and empowered in their health and wellness.
Giving back to my profession was important to me, so I accepted a nomination and was appointed to the board of the College of Massage therapy for 6 years, and serve on the Ethics and Discipline committee from 1993-1997. Not done with supporting my community, and wanting my profession to have outstanding therapists. I applied and was accepted as a board examiner for the British Columbia College of Massage Therapists from 1997-2006.
To maintain my registration as a massage therapist I continue to enrol in postgraduate classes, and personally I am committed to constant learning and understanding of how the body/mind/soul works.
I have taken extensive courses in Cranial Sacral therapy – graduate from a 3-year program from Windwood institute of Cranial therapy, and Upledger cranial and visceral therapy. I have also taken osteopathic muscle energy courses. June of 2010, I had an exciting opportunity to participate in a course from France that was offered for the first time in Western Canada and USA. I completed the course August 2011 from the Institute for G.D.S. Muscular Chains and Techniques, and still study with my mentor via Skype.
From 2006-2010 I had an amazing opportunity to live in the South Pacific with my husband. It was there that I was exposed to a culture that still relies on the medicine woman and herbs first before Doctors.
I always knew that my practice would eventually change to an energy-healing modality of some sort. I tried an online course in herbalism (influenced from living in Fiji) and while it still fascinates me, I knew this was not the direction I was to take.
For 2 years I had been searching for a course on energy healing. Gratefully through a patient I discovered Donna Eden’s book Energy Medicine and knew within minutes of reading the book that this was the next step in my healing career. I had always felt “things” when I treated patients but never knew what it meant, but trusted where my hands directed me. Since graduating I now know that I am kinesthetic- I feel energy; I am also tonal I hear energy. After four very rigorous years of training I am now an Advanced Eden Energy Medicine Practitioner.
I personally have experienced profound changes- physically, emotionally and spiritually from receiving sessions, it truly has changed my life in so many outstanding ways. I really love Energy Medicine! The treatments I have received have been empowering, improved my health and given me a tool (DER) to use daily to maintain my energy flow in my body. When I start to feel stressed, ill, angry, or out of sorts, I have tools and simple techniques that I can easily and quickly do to restore my energy and re-balance and re-center myself.
I feel blessed to work with a system that empowers clients in their own growth of health and wellness, to shine in their own unique radiance!
